Baba Ramdev led Patanjali Ayurved is planning a big push in online sales of its FMCG products. The Ayurved company is likely to partner with eight major retailers Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm Mall, 1MG, bigbasket, Grofers, ShopClues and Snapdeal in order to promote online sales. Patanjali will also be organising a function in New Delhi on January 16 in which yoga guru Ramdev, company’s MD Acharya Balkrishna and representatives of online retail companies will meet. Patanjali spokesperson S K Tijarawal told PTI,
“We are now going into massive way. Now, we would have an organised and systematic agreement with the players to place our all product online, so that it could reach to customers to the end point.” Tijarawal also said that partnerships with etailers will be in addition to Patanjali’s own web portal patanjaliayurved.net, on which the company sells its products online. He added, “The retailers and aggregators would share the dais…They are coming and make announcement together that they would be working with brand Patanjali.”
The Haridwar based company had entered into kids and adult diapers and affordable sanitary napkins segments too. The company had also announced that it would be venturing into solar equipment manufacturing last month. Besides FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) segment, Patanjali Ayurved is present in other sectors such as education and healthcare. In 2016-17, the company had crossed a turnover of Rs 10,500 crore and aims a two-fold growth this fiscal.
Earlier on December 25, the Chhattisgarh government signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three food processing firms, including Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved, to set up processing units at an estimated investment of Rs 762.80 crore. The pacts were signed between Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Manorama Industries Private Ltd and Aakriti Snacks Private Limited during a meeting held at the official residence of Chief Minister Raman Singh, reports PTI.
